The Background
The Real Seafood Co was borne out of a desire to do good, be different and eat more seafood. A disruptive, youthful brand, it has successfully attracted new customers to the category and encouraged experimentation with lesser known seafood products.
We’ve worked with the team from the outset. When The Real Seafood Co approached us, they had a logo and a handful of products - but no brand.
Over the last couple of years, Studio Whisk have brought the brand to life across digital platforms, including a bespoke website and establishing and managing social media platforms Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
The awareness raised on social media has directly contributed to the overall brand success, with tangible results.
Exceeding expectations and sales forecasts within the first 12 months of launch, The Real Seafood Co has become the third most recognised brand in its categories (chilled and frozen seafood), and the second highest in branded sales in its core categories. Available in the four major retailers, they now have over 20 active listings. What a catch!
the big idea
In summer 2025, The Real Seafood then commissioned us to make their flagship brand film, showcasing their values, story, and standout personality.
Designed to build credibility, spark engagement, and inspire trust, the film was to be a cornerstone asset for both customer-facing channels and retailer conversations. Capturing everything from responsible sourcing and accessibility, to a love of flavour and food discovery - presented in an energetic, social-first style with versatile edits for multiple platforms. The ultimate goal? To get more people talking about, cooking with, and enjoying seafood.
We conceived, planned, directed, produced and shot the film in our very own Whisk Studios. This included tailoring our uniquely flexible in-house kitchen set, repainted with colours bespoke to The Real Seafood Co. brand. We also reimagined the layout of the set to include a dining space, and to allow us to shoot the products and people in the most creative and effective manner for the intimate, distinctive look and feel of the film. In addition, our art direction included carefully sourced props to reflect The Real Seafood Co. brand, together with sourcing and managing the talent, styled in a wardrobe to evoke both the branding and Real Seafood Co.’s customers.
Matching the disruptive nature of the brand, it was a great opportunity to get super creative and have some fun with our shots. Props were key, and we made them bespoke. That fridge shot? We cut a hole and shot from the inside! And how did we get into the saucepan of prawns? We cut the pan in half.
Our dream team included our tireless set builder, who crafted the kitchen to feel authentically on brand. Our food stylist, who ensured every prawn was perfectly cooked, and every plate mouthwateringly on point. Our gaffer, who magically masterminded the lighting and intimate mood (whatever the weather and time of day outside!), and of course, our endlessly creative director of photography, with boundary pushing and attention to detail like no other.
The result? A brand film that was exciting, unique and authentic to The Real Seafood Co. A hero, cornerstone asset that could be repurposed across platforms and media to tell their story, their way, engaging current customers and converting potential seafood shoppers.
